Bewcastle Consulting was set up in 2001 by Joe Barrett and Mike Borshell, both of whom have extensive experience of the IT and telecomms market. With in excess of 70 years experience between them, they have worked on every aspect of IT and telecomms. Past employers include major blue chip enterprises: Shell Petroleum, British Telecom, Philips Electronics, The Home Office, Unisys Corporation. They bring this knowledge and expertise to their consulting assignments covering all aspects of IT and telephony.
Whatever the project, we follow a set process which covers all aspects of the project.

| Service Offerings | Baseline Audit | At Bewcastle Consulting, we believe that it is important
to understand where you are now, before you move on. This establishes the
Baseline for your future work. Taken together, the Baseline and the Requirements definition comprise the input to a Gap Analysis which will identify what needs to be done and form the basis of work package definitions. Further, it enables you to measure your progress by comparing the "where you were" to the "where you are now". We do not subscribe to big bang implementations, but rather incremental steps followed by periods of consolidation. |

| Requirements Specification | In any IT or telephony project, it is important to have
absolute clarity of what you want to do and an understanding of why you want to
do it. In our opinion, this is crucial, though it is surprising how many
projects have been started without this fundamental understanding. At this stage, it is prudent to identify and involve the principal stakeholders and to solicit input on their needs, priorities and concerns. It is important to involve all those who will be affected by the project. We believe this is best done as the Requirements are being formulated. Bewcastle Consulting can help by providing independent and impartial guidance through the process. |

| Selecting the Solution | Once you know where you are and have defined what you
want, you are in a position to select the solution which will fill the
gap. Things you will want to consider when selecting a technology solution are: Functional requirements, non-functional requirements, ease of use and adaptability, total cost of ownership and viability of supplier. We can provide independent help in reviewing solutions and their vendors to ensure you get the solution that is right for you. |

| Implementation & Training | Implementing your solution correctly is crucial. If the
solution gets off to a bad start, then it will stall and lose its credibility.
This can be very hard to recover - with predictable results. Your solution may involve new processes and new data which will be working alongside and integrated with exisiting processes and data, possibly on a new technology platform. There is potentially a lot to co-ordinate and integrate. Do not under-estimate the training demands for users of the system. You have chosen this solution because it brings benefits to your organisation. Make sure the users if the system know what they are.
